Pensive of dreams that are not dreams!

Smitha has tagged me to write my 10 most cherished moments. Initially I thought they won’t be tough to write.. oh but they are! not because I dont have enough memories.. but because I have been blessed with so many!!!!

To sort them and rank them.. is just not possible.. but at random I have jotted some of the many many more!

—-> Our trip to pondy with dad n mom. Though we have spent many vacations (nearly all of them ) travelling south.. it always was to meet some relative.. but that year, we spared some time just for us…. And one more wonderful part was that they didn’t fight.. not a single disagreement.. that was a record πŸ™‚ Sitting in the dark along the main road.. facing the sea.. listening to the wind blowing in your ears.. and lilting melody of the waves rumbling and crashing on the rocks.. The conversation I had with my sister.. about my crushes πŸ˜‰ (what else! ) Β Searching for food at “9:30 pm” only to find most restaruants closed by then! and then finding this small hotel and eating parantha.. SI style πŸ˜‰Β

—-> Watching “Masti” in a theatre… Β with Smital in between the exams only because we were so bored of studying!Β

—–> Dad telling stories in his unique style.. playing carrom in the night.. just four of us.. eating ice creams from the ‘Gupta stores’ where he gave a lil extra whenever I went with dad to buy them !Β

—-> Visiting Hampi with Mama, dad , mom and nani.. sis opted out.. and it was one of a kind experience. that can never be expressed in words..

—–> Visiting this waterfall in ‘Neral’ with college friends.. walking on the road in a drizzle…hitch hiking in a Β “sadhu’s car” Β which was playing the song “Laila mein laila” Β dancing in an under construction house.. using big leaves as umberella etc etc .. ***************SIGH****************

—–> Hosting our warden’s ‘Godh bharai rasam’ in the hostel for the benifit of other lecturers (female ones) and hosting it well!!.. Celebrating Sharad Poornima using Coke instead of Milk πŸ˜›Β

—> My birthday.. wherein sis bought a cake in surprise.. we had forgotten what celebration is when mom died.. it was wonderful really… we followed that religiously then for 2-3 years.. for every one of our birthday..

—-> Travelling in the local train for the first time and getting badly lost .. after 10 std.. to submit form coz I insisted that I will go alone!

—> Scrouging the foot path in Churchgate/CST to buy cheapest novels πŸ™‚ ** ever wondered why its called church gate?**Β

—-> A wedding in “Sira” in AP.. and meeting mom’s schoold friends and being addressed as ‘SeethaLaxmi’s?” daughter who looks very much like her.. and knowing that my mom loved roasted nuts, ‘bor’ and tamarind?(chincha) Β as much as me

—-> Going to trambakeshwar and meeting Nanaji Kannav

—-> The first time I bunked college.. on the 3rd day of junior college πŸ˜€

—-> Giving my first extempore speech and almost winning ( came second) .. I had this huge stage fright .. but after that I never felt afraid again!

—-> Spending time alone.. cloud watching.. bird watching.. getting stuck below the beehive for 1 hour while the bees disturbed by my step buzzed about.. while a concerned friend kept scolding me! Walking in the dew soaked land.. making ‘kolhapuri’ style mango pickle in the canteen and eating them plates full!!

—-> singing songs in the canteen while the table served as tabla! playing badminton late in the night.. having parties in the gym.. planning for it.. and organizing..

—> Being elected as the best senior in the hostel.. being called as ‘ One person I won’t forget ever’ by a friend whom I had huge crush on!

—-> Being surprised by friends with many little gifts.. like a letter left on the table.. a msg on the back of tickets.. gifted hand made jholas.. coz I loved it so much!Β

—-> Dancing for the first time with a group in collge.. being charmed into dancing by a friend..

—> Going camping with school friends.. lying in the dark and exchaning ghost stories

—> Called the best motivational speaker by a friend…Β

—> Sitting on the hill top with friends.. singing songs while the friend thrummed the guitar

—-> Sitting on my favorite nook by the brook with a special friend.. in the evening.. with feet in the water and enjoying each other’s company in silence! the best moment there is!

—-> Doing crazy stunts with friends like standing on the wall holding each other in titanic pose πŸ˜›

—-> Making parodies of popular songs for ppl we have crushes on.. calling them with names like teddy bear.. TP… P N junction BEE.. you get the idea..

For example.. remember the song.. Ande ka funda ? this is what we made it out to be..

Aao sunau tumhe teddy ka funda
Yeh nahi pyaare koi mamuli bandha
Meena ka teddy .. teddy.. teddy ki meena

Teddy was the guy from the final year I was so in crush with πŸ˜›

—-> Out staring the college goon πŸ˜› Β

—-> Staying up all night making posters for college feista .. selling rose cards.. doing planchitt at 8 o clk in the night.. scaring each other shitless and huddling together in a single bed for weeks together.. and yet exchanging ghost stories.. yet again πŸ™‚

—-> Watching rainbows over lapping each other… even when rector scolded us for hanging on the wall.. sneaking through and doing it yet again!

—-> Playing antakshari with the “boys” hostel loudly.. from tarrace during exam times! Playing “pakda pakdi” trying to climb the windows behind the guys! Oh getting wet in the rain!

Okay this has come out in torrents.. and loads of them from my college times.. specifically engg college times.. i know! what do I say blame OG πŸ˜› πŸ˜›Β

I couldnt stop .. the moments simplt kept coming!

  20. Beautiful Meena…….college life is really a cherished memeory now, isn’t it?????

Dont listen to Indyeah….I like ur template….once in a while its good to step out of what we are & adopt a new look……& more importantly I can read everything so clearly πŸ˜€ .

Anyways I knw u keep changing ur template regularly….but do try to keep this atleast for a month.

  21. Meena,

Amazing, amazing post… sweet, sentimental, strong, subtle, emotional, funny, sad… everything… yes @ a couple of spots a sudden shock and symptoms of tears too.

But this post was absolutely wonderful. I am sure whoever has called you a great motivational speaker and a person they’d never forget would not have meant it for nothing. Indeed from what little I know of you through your words you seem pretty much a person with bold perspectives and a refreshing outlook towards life.

Continue to celebrate being special… and yes recall these wonderful memories as memoirs… sometimes one wonders if all the wonderful ‘present’ is just to become beautiful in memory so we can tap into it when life otherwise seems jaded and hopeless.

  22. Weren’t you an extrovert Winnie! Best senior, extempore, lots of surprises, dancing with a group …
And ghost stories are such fun!!! I love them too even if they scare a bit!!

Humor me please? *winks*
