Had you waited, turned back, just one time, you would have known. I retrieved that ball of crushed paper after you turned your back.
Tears flowed unretrainedly, as I read through. You crushed my heart with them. And yours too.
If only I could convince you how sorely mistaken you were. If only you believed!
If only she had known that her mom waited till she left to fondle that scrap of paper. She had poured her heart in it only to be rudely overlooked.
Had she known, her mom feared her grandma as she did, she would have crushed her in a bear hug.
For now, she drowned herself in tears.
