Woman a mystery? I don’t think so.

I have been twaddling about with this topic, wondering what to write and what not to write. Hence tonight I decided to check other blog posts… not all of them as of yet though. Most of the blog posts were similar in their thinking. Some talked about love and most talked about how no one can understand ‘what women wants’.ย  Especially men were consistent all along with this view. But what surprised me most is when women agreed that they are complicated.

I believe men are no less complicated than women. Most women, make career out of anticipating what men want then why is it that men don’t understand what women wants? After some deliberation this is what I came up with. A man’sย  approach to any problem is to find a way to solve the problem. So unless women needs solution, they can’t figure out what women wants. However, when it comes to a woman, she is not looking for a solution. What she wants is someone to listen and understand her feelings.

Thats the bottom line. A woman wants undivided attention at least for a time being. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand. What matters is that you try to understand and under no circumstance give your opinion unless asked for.

Any man who can listen without judgment and make proper noises of ‘there..thre.. you poor thing..’ will always be a hit.

Its been around 20 minutes and I have been thinking what to add to this blog that has not been said yet and I remembered this story. It is not my story but I am sure many of us can relate to it…

————————————————————-

Once upon a time, in the misty glades of Ireland, lived a dainty maiden, with an auburn hair and raven eyes. Hidden from most, she spent her life in and around her tiny little garden and taking care of her dad. They had a small farm but thriving. And most days were spent content.

However, our maiden, Esmeralda, yearned for something more than her usual life. One such day, rather one such night, she happened to be sighing looking at the moon from her bedroom window, when the handsome faerie prince, Caddick, happened to sneak out of his kingdom, from below the reef.

As it happens in most stories, their eyes met, they instant fell in love. It could be that she formed a beautiful picture, in her night clothes, with her hair dancing with the breeze, drenched in the moon light, looking all dreamy and vulnerable at the same time. Or it could be that she was a novelty. It could also be, that he was a dashing prince with proud bearing, right out of her dreams or may be a change from the daily rut of things. I leave the reasons for you to decide. It should suffice that they fell in love, whatever the reasons be.

They spent many happy hours together, building dreams as lovers often do. He used all his magic to make her experience, one of its kind. He took her around the world, over the skies, amongst the stars. They colored the nightly skies with colors of rainbows. And as it happens in any story, it was time that the idyll bubble was broken.

As it happened,ย  her father noticed them and betrothed her to someone else. On her wedding day, he flew high and low and collected the jewels of the sun and then laid it onto her feet. He promised her with gems and jewels and luxuries unheard of, but she wasn’t convinced enough to leave. She wanted something more. She said no. The jewels then turned into dew drops and ever since disappeared with the dawn.

He returned after many years to try again. She was married by then. He brought with him, the tears of the moon this time as a measure of his longings. But she had responsibilities now and he still hadn’t told what her heart needed to hear. The tears then turned to beautiful white flowers that faded with the moon.

The faerie prince, now a king, went away with an huff. He hid himself to grieve for his lost love. After roaming aimlessly for years together, he returned to her one last time. He wrenched the heart of the sea as his offering this time. He poured his words of love and longing and all that filled his heart. She listened to him in silence, reveling at his words that took so long to come. But it was too late. She was a grand mom by now and her hairs were grey. She had seen too much lost too much to believe in the innocence of love. She refused him one last time too.

In short, a woman wants nothing but your heart, with all its vulnerabilities and all its wounds. And she wants you to take her heart with all her vulnerabilities.

P.S: The story is not mine. Its copied from the novel Heart of the Sea by Nora Roberts.

And now can’t help but quote a lovely song here as a closure for this mushy post…

To really love a woman,
To understand her,
You’ve got to know her deep inside
Hear every thought,
See every dream,
And give her wings when she wants to fly
Then when you find yourself lying helpless in her arms,
You know you really love a woman

CHORUS:

When you love a woman,
You tell her that she’s really wanted
When you love a woman,
You tell her that she’s the one
She needs somebody, to tell her that it’s gonna last forever
{2nd}(She needs somebody, to tell her that you’ll always be together)
So tell me have you ever really…really, really ever loved a woman

2nd VERSE

To really love a woman,
Let her hold you,
Till you know how she needs to be touched
You’ve got to breathe her, really taste her
Till you can feel her in your blood
And when you see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman

BRIDGE:

You’ve got to give her some faith,
Hold her tight, a little tenderness
You’ve got to treat her right
She will be there for you taking good care of you
You really gotta love your woman

And when you find yourself lying helpless in her arms,
You know you really love a woman

P.P.S: Wrote it for Blogadda ‘s “What women wants?” contest, but don’t think it really fits.

  1. ๐Ÿ™‚
But too much of “there… there… you poor thing” will also have a negative effect. ๐Ÿ˜€ They should know when to stop it and go to next level. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
    Nice post.

  2. This is it, this is a record of sorts…I am first in replying to a post..It has not happened till now and nor will it happen again! Woha! I am first.
And what a beautiful post…loved the story and the song…
Yes, women are really not a mystery, they need the one thing…understanding to be your for ever…a caring heart and someone who listens…
(Some money will be an advantage!)

  3. how can a boy be so dumb to girl emotion? but is it means girl should be blind to boys emotรฌon? no not at all. girls are always subjective to men in love & want boys to take t first step,is it fair to think that girl dont want to be in-par with men demanding what they want & finally the clash of egos makes it complex

  4. Beautifully put! What we want more than anything else is a conversation where he doesn’t just pretend to listen, but actually does and follows it with a hug…
And I have to admit that I listen to that song almost every week and sigh!

  5. “Any man who can listen without judgment and make proper noises of โ€˜there..thre.. you poor thing..โ€™ will always be a hit.”
Is that so?? Hmmm not true (according to me) ๐Ÿ™‚ Any man who can listen and not judge and ‘MEAN’ it may be a hit. But those ‘making the right noises’ ummm…. no. You can’t ‘make’ right noises. If there is no sincerity in what is said, no amount of right noises is going to get man or even woman anywhere. A discordant note spoils the song.
